Abel, northeast Alabama

Abel Dam is on a tributary of Chulafinnee Creek in Cleburne County, Alabama and is used for recreation purposes. Construction was completed in 1960. It is owned by Abel Land Company.

 

Abel is of earthen construction. Its length is 450 feet. Maximum discharge is 740 cubic feet per second. Its capacity is 140 acre feet. Normal storage is 80 acre feet.
