Balmorhea Lake, west Texas

Balmorhea Lake is on Sandia Creek in Reeves County, Texas and is used for irrigation purposes. Construction was completed in 1917. Its normal surface area is 627 acres. It is owned by Reeves County Watershed Improvement District No 1.

 

Balmorhea Lake Dam is of earthen construction. The foundation is unlisted or unknown. Its height is 44 feet with a length of 3850 feet. Maximum discharge is 15121 cubic feet per second. Its capacity is 7652 acre feet. Normal storage is 6350 acre feet. It drains an area of 12 square miles.
