Barton Dam, southeast MichiganBarton Dam is on the Huron River in Washtenaw County, Michigan and is used for drinking water, hydroelectric power and recreation purposes. Construction was completed in 1913. At normal levels it has a surface area of 315 acres. It is owned by the City of Ann Arbor. Barton Dam is of earthen construction. The core is homogeneous. The foundation is soil. Its height is 34 feet with a length of 1767 feet. Maximum discharge is 15300 cubic feet per second. Its capacity is 7298 acre feet. Normal storage is 5050 acre feet. It drains an area of 728 square miles.
