Bear Lake, northwest Florida

Bear Lake on Sweetwater Creek in Santa Rosa County, Florida is used for recreation and fish and wildlife protection purposes. Construction was completed in 1959. It is owned by the State Of Florida.

 

Bear Lake Dam, also known as None is of earthen construction. The core is homogeneous, earth. The foundation is soil. Though originally completed in 1959, the structure was modified in 1999. Its height is 28 feet with a length of 700 feet. Maximum discharge is 360 cubic feet per second. Its capacity is 1570 acre feet. Normal storage is 1012 acre feet. It drains an area of 1.59 square miles.
