Big Bear Lake, southeast California

Big Bear Lake is created by Bear Valley Dam on Bear Creek in San Bernardino County, California and is used for irrigation purposes. Construction was completed in 1911. At normal levels it has a surface area of 4.1 square miles. It is owned by Big Bear Municipal Water District.

 

Bear Valley, also known as Big Bear Lake is a gravity dam. Its height is 80 feet with a length of 360 feet. Normal storage is 74000 acre feet. It drains an area of 48.22 square miles.
