Bogue Chitto Sill and Pearl R Lock 2, southeast Louisiana

Bogue Chitto Sill and Pearl R Lock 2 Dam is on P R Canal and Bogue Chitto Creek in St. Tammany County, Louisiana and is used for improved navigation purposes. Construction was completed in 1950. It has a normal surface area of 30 acres. It is owned by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

 

Bogue Chitto Sill & Pearl R Lock 2, also known as Bogue Chitto is a gravity dam. The core is earth. The foundation is soil. Its length is 310 feet. Maximum discharge is 7500 cubic feet per second. Its capacity is 1300 acre feet. Normal storage is 1300 acre feet. It drains an area of 7896 square miles.
