Buffalo Trace Lake, southwest Indiana

Buffalo Trace Lake is on a tributary of South Fork Blue River in Harrison County, Indiana and is used for flood control and recreation purposes. Construction was completed in 1971. It has a normal surface area of 29.4 acres. It is owned by Harrison County Park and Recreation Board.

 

Buffalo Trace Lake Dam is of earthen construction. Its height is 15 feet with a length of 420 feet. Maximum discharge is 1577 cubic feet per second. Its capacity is 292 acre feet. Normal storage is 162 acre feet. It drains an area of 0.55 square miles.
