At normal levels it has a surface area of 104 acres. It is owned by Village Of Byron. Byron Dam is of earthen construction. Its height is 12 feet with a length of 185 feet. Maximum discharge is 15600 cubic feet per second. Its capacity is 600 acre feet. Normal storage is 500 acre feet. It drains an area of 191 square miles.
