Chicon Dam, central Texas

Chicon Dam is on Chacon Creek in Medina County, Texas and is used for irrigation purposes. Construction was completed in 1912. At normal levels it has a surface area of 107 acres. It is owned by Bexar Medina Atascosa Counties Wcid 1.

 

Chicon Dam is of earthen construction. The foundation is rock, soil. Its height is 15 feet with a length of 566 feet. Maximum discharge is 31991 cubic feet per second. Its capacity is 2312 acre feet. Normal storage is 730 acre feet. It drains an area of 31.4 square miles.
