Cold Brook Lake, west South Dakota

Cold Brook Lake is impounded by Cold Brook Dam on Cold Brook Creek in Fall River County, South Dakota and is used for flood control purposes. Construction was completed in 1953. Its normal surface area is 36 acres. It is owned by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

 

Cold Brook Dam, also known as Cold Brook Lake is of earthen construction. The core is earth. The foundation is rock, soil. Its length is 925 feet. Maximum discharge is 80600 cubic feet per second. Its capacity is 7200 acre feet. Normal storage is 520 acre feet. It drains an area of 71 square miles.
