Douglas Lake, TennesseeDouglas Lake is created by Douglas/Saddle Dam No. 1 Dam on the French Broad River in Sevier County, Tennessee and is used for flood control, hydroelectric power and recreation purposes. It was built in 1943. At normal levels it has a surface area of 49 square miles. It is owned by Tennessee Valley Authority (TVA). Douglas/saddle Dam No. 1, also known as Douglas Lake is of earthen construction. The core is earth. The foundation is rock. Though originally completed in 1943, the structure was modified in 1987. Its height is 102.5 feet with a length of 1918 feet. Its capacity is 1.541e+06 acre feet. Normal storage is 1.4197e+06 acre feet. It drains an area of 4541 square miles.
