Emmett Sanders Lock and Dam, central Arkansas

Pool 4 is formed by Emmett Sanders Lock and Dam on the Arkansas River in Jefferson County, Arkansas and is used for improved navigation, flood control, recreation and fish and wildlife protection purposes. Construction was completed in 1968. It has a normal surface area of 8.9 square miles. It is owned by U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

 

Emmett Sanders Lock & Dam, also known as Pool 4 is concrete, a gravity dam. The core is homogeneous, concrete. The foundation is soil. Its height is 46 feet with a length of 18400 feet. Maximum discharge is 375000 cubic feet per second. Its capacity is 77000 acre feet. Normal storage is 70400 acre feet. It drains an area of 158658 square miles.
