Espantosa Dam, southcentral Texas

Espantosa Dam is on the Nueces River in Dimmit County, Texas and is used for irrigation purposes. Construction was completed in 1917. It is owned by Zavala Dimmit Counties Watershed Improvement District No 1.

 

Its height is 12 feet with a length of 315 feet. Its capacity is 1745 acre feet. Normal storage is 1745 acre feet.
