Five Mile Lake, central Illinois
Five Mile Lake is impounded by Shoal Creek Structure 2 Dam on a tributary of West Fork Shoal Creek in Montgomery County, Illinois and is used for flood control and recreation purposes. Construction was completed in 1963. It has a normal surface area of 137 acres. It is owned by the City Of Litchfield.
Shoal Creek Structure 2 Dam, also known as Five Mile Lake, formerly Five Mile Lake is of earthen construction. The core is homogeneous, earth. The foundation is soil. Its height is 38 feet with a length of 600 feet. Maximum discharge is 41650 cubic feet per second. Its capacity is 10200 acre feet. Normal storage is 361 acre feet. It drains an area of 37 square miles.
