Folsom Lake, northwest California
Folsom Lake is impounded by Folsom Dike 6 on the American River in Placer County, California and is used for irrigation, drinking water, flood control, hydroelectric power and recreation purposes. Construction was completed in 1956. It has a normal surface area of 18 square miles. It is owned by Department of Interior, Bureau of Reclamation.
Folsom Dike 6, also known as Folsom Lake is of earthen construction. Its height is 40 feet with a length of 1903 feet. Its capacity is 1120000 acre feet. Normal storage is 1010000 acre feet. It drains an area of 1570 square miles.
