Franklin Falls Dam, central New HampshireDry Reservoir is impounded by Franklin Falls Dam on the Pemigewasset River in Merrimack County, New Hampshire and is used for flood control purposes. It was built in 1943. At normal levels it has a surface area of 440 acres. It is owned by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Franklin Falls Dam, also known as Dry Reservoir is of earthen construction, rock fill, a gravity dam. The core is earth. The foundation is rock, soil. Its height is 116 feet with a length of 1740 feet. Maximum discharge is 205000 cubic feet per second. Its capacity is 222000 acre feet. Normal storage is 3000 acre feet. It drains an area of 1000 square miles.
