Lake Sidney Lanier Over the years recreation has grown by leaps and bounds to nearly 7 million visitors annually at Lake Sidney Lanier. Today recreation is an important benefit of the lake. Seventy-six recreational areas have been developed around the lake. These include 49 parks operated directly by the Corps, 10 marinas, and Lake Lanier Islands. The remaining areas are leased to county and city governments such as the Boy Scouts. Lake Lanier is one of the most visited federally operated lakes in the nation.
Driving DirectionsFrom I-985/Buford Take GA Hwy 20 West, From GA 400/Cumming, take Ga Hwy 20 West, to North on Suwanee Dam Road. Go three miles and go left on Buford Dam Road. The Visitor Center is 1 mi on the right. Directions to other locations on the lake may be obtained from the project website.
For Visitors...The things to do at Lake Sidney Lanier are bike riding, boating, fishing, hiking, horseback riding, hunting, water sports and wildlife viewing.
