Hell Hole Reservoir Vacation and Resort Properties

Hell Hole Reservoir is formed by Lower Hell Hole Dam on the Rubicon River in Placer County, California and is used for irrigation purposes. Construction was completed in 1966. At normal levels it has a surface area of 2 square miles. It is property of Placer County Water Agency.

 

Hell Hole Reservoir The Hell Hole Reservoir is about 10 miles west of Lake Tahoe, California. It lies on the Rubicon River at an elevation of 4,630 feet, and is approximately 3.5 miles long. Tahoe City is about 13 miles to the northeast. The reservoir is in Placer County, and has a campground at each end.
