It has a normal surface area of 123 acres. It is owned by Mdnr Parks and Recreation. Heron Dam is of earthen construction. Its height is 26 feet with a length of 1025 feet. Maximum discharge is 74 cubic feet per second. Its capacity is 1600 acre feet. Normal storage is 1100 acre feet. It drains an area of 3.5 square miles.
