Hillsdale Lake, east KansasHillsdale Lake is impounded by Hillsdale Dam on Big Bull Creek in Miami County, Kansas and is used for flood control, recreation and drinking water, among other things. Construction was completed in 1981. It has a normal surface area of 7.2 square miles. It is owned by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Hillsdale Dam, also known as Hillsdale Lake is of earthen construction. The core is earth. The foundation is rock, soil. Its length is 11640 feet. Maximum discharge is 4750 cubic feet per second. Its capacity is 160000 acre feet. Normal storage is 76000 acre feet. It drains an area of 144 square miles.
