Kayuta Lake, northcentral New York

Kayuta Lake is on the Black River in Oneida County, New York and is used for hydroelectric power and recreation purposes. Construction was completed in 1894. It has a normal surface area of 1.2 square miles. It is owned by New York State Department Of Transportation.

 

Kayuta Lake is masonry, stone, a gravity dam. Its height is 26 feet with a length of 240 feet. Maximum discharge is 12700 cubic feet per second. Its capacity is 10309 acre feet. Normal storage is 4889 acre feet. It drains an area of 144 square miles.
