Lake La Pointe, southcentral Louisiana

Lake Martin is created by Lake La Pointe Dam fed offstream by the Vermilion River in St. Martin County, Louisiana and is used for recreation purposes. Construction was completed in 1952. Its normal surface area is 1.3 square miles. It is owned by Department Of Wildlife and Fisheries.

 

Lake La Pointe, also known as Lake Martin is of earthen construction. The core is homogeneous, earth. The foundation is assumed to be soil. Its length is 26996 feet. Maximum discharge is 22 cubic feet per second. Its capacity is 5300 acre feet. Normal storage is 4500 acre feet.
