Lake Lynn, West Virginia
Cheat Lake is created by Lake Lynn Dam on the Cheat River in Monongalia County, West Virginia and is used for hydroelectric power and recreation purposes. Construction was completed in 1926. At normal levels it has a surface area of 2.7 square miles. It is owned by Allegheny Energy Supply Company, L.L.C.
Lake Lynn, also known as Cheat Lake Dam is a gravity dam, concrete. The core is homogeneous, concrete. The foundation is rock. Its height is 125 feet with a length of 1000 feet. Maximum discharge is 147000 cubic feet per second. Its capacity is 72300 acre feet. Normal storage is 43000 acre feet. It drains an area of 1413 square miles.
