Lake Moraine, central New YorkMadison Lake is formed by Lake Moraine Dam on the Payne Brook in Madison County, New York and is used for improved navigation and recreation, among other things. Construction was completed in 1836. It has a normal surface area of 260 acres. It is owned by Nys Canal Corp. Lake Moraine Dam, also known as Madison Lake is of earthen construction. Its height is 57 feet with a length of 1400 feet. Maximum discharge is 1070 cubic feet per second. Its capacity is 2850 acre feet. Normal storage is 1717 acre feet. It drains an area of 8.21 square miles.
