Lake Norman Vacation and Resort Properties

Lake Norman is the result of Cowans Ford Dam on the Catawba River in Lincoln County, North Carolina and is used for hydroelectric power, drinking water and recreation purposes. Construction was completed in 1963. At normal levels it has a surface area of 51 square miles. It is property of Duke Power Company.

 

Lake Norman on the Catawba River is the largest man-made body of fresh water in North Carolina, with over 520 miles of shoreline. Fishing species include crappie, bluegill, perch, and bass. Lake Norman's many waterfront vacation homes and lakeside properties have revitalized the area.
