Lake Talquin (res), northcentral Florida

Lake Talquin (reservoir) is the result of Jackson Bluff Dam on the Ochlockonee River in Leon County, Florida and is used for recreation and hydroelectric power purposes. Construction was completed in 1928. Its normal surface area is 16 square miles. It is owned by the City Of Tallahassee.

 

Jackson Bluff, also known as Lake Talquin (res) is of earthen construction, a gravity dam. The core is homogeneous, earth. The foundation is soil. Its height is 60 feet with a length of 3600 feet. Maximum discharge is 150000 cubic feet per second. Normal storage is 150000 acre feet. It drains an area of 1720 square miles.
