Lake Tonkawa, east Texas

Lake Tonkawa Dam is on Running Creek in Leon County, Texas and is used for recreation purposes. Construction was completed in 1971. It has a normal surface area of 75 acres. It is owned by the City Of Hilltop Lakes.

 

Lake Tonkawa Dam is of earthen construction. The core is earth. The foundation is soil. Its height is 47 feet with a length of 1280 feet. Maximum discharge is 911 cubic feet per second. Its capacity is 1900 acre feet. Normal storage is 976 acre feet. It drains an area of 2.45 square miles.
