It has been been there since 1931. Its normal surface area is 19 square miles. It is owned by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Lock & Dam #2, also known as Pool 2 is of earthen construction, concrete. The core is homogeneous, earth. The foundation is soil. Though originally completed in 1931, the structure was modified in 1987. Its height is 42 feet with a length of 4250 feet. Maximum discharge is 171000 cubic feet per second. Its capacity is 787000 acre feet. Normal storage is 82000 acre feet. It drains an area of 36990 square miles.
