Lower Lake, southeast New York

Lower Lake is on the Carmans River in Suffolk County, New York and is used for recreation purposes. It was built in 1940. It has a normal surface area of 26 acres. It is owned by Town Of Brookhaven.

 

Lower Lake Dam, also known as Lower Lake is of earthen construction. Its height is 12 feet with a length of 600 feet. Maximum discharge is 140 cubic feet per second. Its capacity is 156 acre feet. Normal storage is 78 acre feet. It drains an area of 71 square miles.
