Marshall, northwest North Carolina

Redmon Dam is the result of Marshall Dam on the French Broad River in Madison County, North Carolina and is used for hydroelectric power purposes. Construction was completed in 1911. It has a normal surface area of 50 acres. It is owned by Carolina Power And Light Co.

 

Marshall, also known as Redmon Dam is a gravity dam. The core is homogeneous, concrete. The foundation is rock. Its height is 37 feet with a length of 583 feet. Maximum discharge is 65000 cubic feet per second. Normal storage is 400 acre feet. It drains an area of 1343 square miles.
