Massabesic Lake Vacation and Resort Properties

Massabesic Lake is formed by Massabesic Lake Dam on the Cohas Brook in Hillsborough County, New Hampshire and is used for flood control purposes. Construction of Massabesic Lake Dam was completed in 1873. At normal levels it has a surface area of 4.1 square miles. The dam is also known as Mill Dam. It is property of Manchester Water Works.

 

Massabesic Lake is in Manchester and Auburn, New Hampshire. Swimming and water skiing are prohibited, but fishing and boating are popular. The lake provides drinking water for the city of Manchester.

The 10,000 acre flood control project contains two developed recreational areas, Clough State Park operated by the State and Elm Brook Park operated by the Corps of Engineers.
