Max Starcke Dam, central TexasMax Starcke Dam is on the Colorado River in Burnet County, Texas and is used for hydroelectric power and recreation purposes. Construction was completed in 1951. Its normal surface area is 1.2 square miles. It is owned by Lower Colorado River Authority. Max Starcke Dam is a gravity dam. The core is homogeneous, concrete. The foundation is assumed to be rock, soil. Though originally completed in 1951, the structure was modified in 1995. Its height is 99 feet with a length of 860 feet. Maximum discharge is 421000 cubic feet per second. Its capacity is 8760 acre feet. Normal storage is 8760 acre feet. It drains an area of 36325 square miles.
