Vanderbilt Mansion National Historic Site
The Vanderbilt Estate in Hyde Park, New York is perhaps the best, most intact example of the types of estates constructed by wealthy industrialists in the 19th century. The fully-furnished, 54-room mansion is placed in a wondrous landscape with breathtaking views of the Hudson River and distant Catskill Mountains. Driving Directions
Plane - The closest major airport is Stewart International Airport in Newburgh, New York (near junction of I-87 and I-84). Several major carriers have daily flights to Stewart. Car rentals are available there.
Car - Vanderbilt Mansion is in the Hudson River Valley in Dutchess County, New York. We are on Route 9 in Hyde Park, about 90 miles north of New York City and 70 miles south of Albany. Follow the link below for detailed driving directions.
Public Transportation - The Metro-North Commuter Railroad and Amtrak both stop in Poughkeepsie, about 5 miles south of the park. Taxi service from other points in the local area is also available. The Dutchess County Loop Bus System stops in Hyde Park several times daily; call (800) 924-8702 for information.
