It has a normal surface area of 140 acres. It is owned by Ppl Maine, Llc. Orono is concrete, a gravity dam, buttress supported. Its height is 15 feet with a length of 1180 feet. Maximum discharge is 48000 cubic feet per second. Its capacity is 1300 acre feet. Normal storage is 812 acre feet. It drains an area of 7710 square miles.
