Painted Rock Reservoir is created by Painted Rock Dam on the Gila River in Maricopa County, Arizona and is used for flood control purposes. Construction was completed in 1960. It has a normal surface area of 1 acres. It is owned by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.
Painted Rock Dam, also known as Painted Rock Reservoir is of earthen construction. Though originally completed in 1960, the structure was modified in 1999. Its height is 181 feet with a length of 4780 feet. Maximum discharge is 401700 cubic feet per second. Its capacity is 4831500 acre feet. Normal storage is 1 acre feet. It drains an area of 50800 square miles.
