Palmetto Bend West Dike, southeast Texas

Palmetto Bend West Dike is on the Navidad River in Jackson County, Texas and is used for drinking water, flood control and recreation purposes. Construction was completed in 1980. At normal levels it has a surface area of 19 square miles. It is owned by Department of Interior, Bureau of Reclamation.

 

Palmetto Bend West Dike, also known as Palmetto Bend is of earthen construction. Its height is 70 feet with a length of 1922 feet. Its capacity is 199028 acre feet. Normal storage is 165918 acre feet. It drains an area of 1392 square miles.
