Plum Creek Lake, southwest Minnesota

Plum Creek Lake is impounded by Walnut Grove Dam on a tributary of Plum Creek in Redwood County, Minnesota and is used for recreation and flood control purposes. Construction was completed in 1979. It is owned by Redwood County.

 

Walnut Grove, also known as Plum Creek Lake is of earthen construction. The core is homogeneous, earth. The foundation is soil. Its length is 1275 feet. Maximum discharge is 6057 cubic feet per second. Its capacity is 1288 acre feet. Normal storage is 231 acre feet. It drains an area of 7 square miles.
