Pond Run 1, West Virginia

Mcdonough Park Dam is created by Pond Run 1 Dam on the Pond Run River in Wood County, West Virginia and is used for flood control purposes. Construction was completed in 1977. At normal levels it has a surface area of 13 acres. It is owned by Little Kanawha Soil Conservation District.

 

Pond Run 1, also known as Mcdonough Park Dam is of earthen construction. The core is earth. The foundation is rock, soil. Its height is 35 feet with a length of 655 feet. Maximum discharge is 9961 cubic feet per second. Its capacity is 623 acre feet. Normal storage is 55 acre feet. It drains an area of 1.88 square miles.
