Potomac River Dam 5, northcentral Maryland
Potomac River Dam #5 Dam is on the Potomac River in Washington County, Maryland and is used for hydroelectric power and recreation purposes. Construction was completed in 1850. At normal levels it has a surface area of 490 acres. It is owned by Us Department of Interior, National Park Service C&O Canal Nat Hist Park.

Maximum discharge is 340000 cubic feet per second. Its capacity is 44300 acre feet. Normal storage is 4900 acre feet. It drains an area of 5100 square miles.
