Rocky Gorge Dam, northeast Maryland
Duckett Dam is formed by Rocky Gorge Dam on the Patuxent River in Prince Georges County, Maryland and is used for drinking water and recreation purposes. Construction was completed in 1953. At normal levels it has a surface area of 1.2 square miles. It is owned by Washington Suburban Sanitary Comission.
Rocky Gorge Dam, also known as Duckett Dam is concrete, buttress supported. The foundation is rock. Though originally completed in 1953, the structure was modified in 1986. Its height is 134 feet with a length of 840 feet. Maximum discharge is 65200 cubic feet per second. Its capacity is 22000 acre feet. Normal storage is 17000 acre feet. It drains an area of 132 square miles.
