Shelton, northeast Alabama

Shelton Dam is on a tributary of Cottaquila Creek in Calhoun County, Alabama and is used for recreation purposes. Construction was completed in 1951. It is owned by A C Shelton.

 

Shelton is of earthen construction. Its length is 140 feet. Maximum discharge is 170 cubic feet per second. Its capacity is 80 acre feet. Normal storage is 45 acre feet.
