St. Marys River Watershed Site 1, east Maryland

St. Marys River Watershed Site #1 Dam is on the West Branch and St. Mary South River in St. Marys County, Maryland and is used for recreation and flood control, among other things. Construction was completed in 1975. It has a normal surface area of 250 acres. It is owned by Md Dnr-Land and Water Conservation Svc.

 

St. Marys River Watershed Site #1 is of earthen construction. The core is earth. The foundation is soil. Though originally completed in 1975, the structure was modified in 1975. Its height is 38 feet with a length of 1670 feet. Maximum discharge is 20576 cubic feet per second. Its capacity is 9600 acre feet. Normal storage is 3200 acre feet. It drains an area of 8.8 square miles.
