St Anthony Falls Lower Lock and Dam, southcentral MinnesotaIntermediate Pool is formed by St. Anthony Falls Lower Lock and Dam on the Mississippi River in Hennepin County, Minnesota and is used for improved navigation and recreation purposes. Construction was completed in 1956. It has a normal surface area of 50 acres. It is owned by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. St Anthony Falls Lower Lock & Dam, also known as Intermediate Pool is of earthen construction, concrete. The core is homogeneous, concrete. The foundation is rock. Though originally completed in 1956, the structure was modified in 1987. Its height is 58 feet with a length of 213 feet. Maximum discharge is 91000 cubic feet per second. Its capacity is 420 acre feet. Normal storage is 375 acre feet. It drains an area of 19680 square miles.
