Stampede, northcentral CaliforniaStampede Dam is on the Little Truckee River in Sierra County, California and is used for flood control, recreation and fish and wildlife protection purposes. Construction was completed in 1970. At normal levels it has a surface area of 5.4 square miles. It is owned by Department of Interior, Bureau of Reclamation. Stampede is of earthen construction. Its height is 239 feet with a length of 1904 feet. Maximum discharge is 3060 cubic feet per second. Its capacity is 221600 acre feet. Normal storage is 221600 acre feet. It drains an area of 130 square miles.
