Swan Lake, southcentral Minnesota

Swan Lake is on the Straight River in Steele County, Minnesota and is used for recreation, flood control and fish and wildlife protection purposes. Construction was completed in 1970. Its normal surface area is 85 acres. It is owned by the State Of Minnesota.

 

Swan Lake is of earthen construction. The core is homogeneous, earth. The foundation is soil. Its height is 7 feet with a length of 80 feet. Its capacity is 423 acre feet. Normal storage is 170 acre feet. It drains an area of 4.063 square miles.
