Tappan Lake, northeast OhioTappan Lake is the result of Tappan Dam on Little Stillwater Creek in Harrison County, Ohio and is used for flood control, recreation and fish and wildlife protection, among other things. It has been been there since 1936. Its normal surface area is 3.7 square miles. It is owned by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Tappan Dam, also known as Tappan Lake is of earthen construction. The core is homogeneous, earth. The foundation is soil. Though originally completed in 1936, the structure was modified in 1975. Its length is 1550 feet. Maximum discharge is 23700 cubic feet per second. Its capacity is 61600 acre feet. Normal storage is 35100 acre feet. It drains an area of 71 square miles.
