Troy Lock and Dam 1, New YorkHudson River is formed by Troy Lock and Dam #1 Dam on the Hudson River in Rensselaer County, New York and is used for improved navigation and hydroelectric power purposes. Construction was completed in 1915. It has a normal surface area of 280 acres. It is owned by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Troy Lock & Dam #1, also known as Hudson River is concrete, a gravity dam. The foundation is rock. Though originally completed in 1915, the structure was modified in 1987. Its height is 20 feet with a length of 1450 feet. Maximum discharge is 215000 cubic feet per second. Its capacity is 4200 acre feet. It drains an area of 8090 square miles.
