Tug Fork and O Brien Lake, West Virginia

Tug Fork and O Brien Lake is created by Mill Creek 13 Dam on the Tug Fork River in Jackson County, West Virginia and is used for flood control, drinking water and recreation purposes. Construction was completed in 1987. It has a normal surface area of 225 acres. It is owned by Western Soil Conservation District.

 

Mill Creek 13, also known as Tug Fork & O Brien Lake is of earthen construction. The core is earth. The foundation is rock, soil. Its height is 71 feet with a length of 600 feet. Maximum discharge is 67642 cubic feet per second. Its capacity is 23100 acre feet. Normal storage is 2826 acre feet. It drains an area of 52.34 square miles.
