Yonah, northcentral GeorgiaYonah Dam is on the Tugaloo River in Stephens County, Georgia and is used for hydroelectric power, recreation and fish and wildlife protection purposes. Construction was completed in 1925. At normal levels it has a surface area of 325 acres. It is owned by Georgia Power Company. Yonah is a gravity dam. The core is homogeneous, concrete. The foundation is rock. Its height is 92 feet with a length of 980 feet. Maximum discharge is 106000 cubic feet per second. Its capacity is 11700 acre feet. Normal storage is 10700 acre feet. It drains an area of 470 square miles.
